Cara Donovan, Au.D. is the Senior Audiologist and Director of Pediatrics and Implantable Technologies at Sounds of Life Hearing Center. She specializes in pediatric audiology and implantable hearing technologies, including cochlear implants, and also provides tinnitus evaluation and treatment. Dr. Donovan is known for a thoughtful, patient-centered approach, particularly when caring for children and families with complex hearing needs.
Dr. Donovan earned her Doctor of Audiology degree from the Northeast Ohio Au.D. Consortium through the University of Akron, with clinical training at Akron Children’s Hospital, the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center, and Cleveland Clinic. At Sounds of Life, she also coordinates the practice’s audiology student precepting program and is deeply invested in preparing the next generation of audiologists.
Her commitment to the profession extends well beyond the clinic. Dr. Donovan serves on the Board of the Audiology Practice Standards Organization and is a Lead for Hearing the Call’s Student Initiative Program. She has traveled to Guatemala five times to provide humanitarian audiology care and participated in Hearing the Call’s 2023 humanitarian project in South Africa with Entheos.
Originally from Indianapolis, Dr. Donovan earned her undergraduate degree from Butler University before making Northeast Ohio home. Outside of audiology, Cara enjoys reading, watching movies, spending time with family, and life with her dog, Goose, and cat, Walter.
