Dr. Sara Conrad received her Au.D. from JMU in 2012. Her doctoral research with Dr. Ayasakanta Rout was published in the American Journal of Audiology, and her undergraduate research at Marywood University was published in the International Journal of Neuroscience. She has worked with Dr. Brenda Ryals since 2009 organizing the Healthy Hearing event at the Special Olympics of Virginia Summer Games, and was officially trained to become the state Clinical Director of Healthy Hearing while at the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles. While at JMU, she also created a service event with both Au.D. and SLP students that provided free hearing screenings and personal amplifiers to residents at a local nursing home. Dr. Conrad is a clinical supervisor for current Au.D. students at Charlottesville and Harrisonburg Hearing Services, and also works part-time at two otolaryngology private practices in both cities. Dr. Conrad’s professional goals include increasing access to hearing health care for individuals who are financially disadvantaged, as well as those with intellectual and physical disabilities.
